Music at St John

The music ministry at St. John is under the direction of Benjamin K. Perry as Director of Choirs, and Bart Dahlstrom as organist. The musicians of St. John strive to enhance and enrich the liturgy with hearts and hands and voices. Instrumentalists, singers, and handbell ringers willingly share their gifts in giving glory to God. Our children and youth also participate in the music program for special services and events.

Our multi-generational band played “Mary did you know?” (pictured here) arranged by our own member Jeff Fuhrer.

CHOIR AT ST JOHN

St. John is blessed with many volunteer singers who blend their voices in unique ways. All singers—teens through seniors—are invited to join the choir (no previous experience or audition is necessary). Our repertoire spans the centuries and a variety of quality choral anthem styles are incorporated.  Rehearsals are held each Thursday evening from 7:30 – 9:15 p.m. in Heritage Hall.  St. John’s choir leads worship each Sunday.

Handbell Choir

When it comes to being in a musical group, handbell choir is the ultimate team sport! Our St. John Ringers make music on three octaves of Schulmerich handbells and Malmark choir chimes. The group is open to all who enjoy praising God through music. We welcome teens through seniors, regardless of musical level. We support all levels of musical ability; there is definitely a place for anyone interested in experiencing the joy of handbell music.  Rehearsals are on Thursday nights from 6:00 - 7:15 p.m. in Heritage Hall.  We ring periodically at worship services throughout the church year and on major church festivals.
